Joan is Principal at Bloomsbury Institute. She holds overall responsibility for the Academic Division and leads on strategic academic initiatives.
Prior to joining the Institute, Joan enjoyed six years at the Higher Education Academy before moving on to take up the post of Senior Advisor at Advance HE, working with universities and colleges across the UK to improve the student experience and student outcomes.
Joan has held lecturing and teaching posts at Buckinghamshire College of HE, Huddersfield University, and Anglo-American College in Prague. She was a Leverhulme Special Career Fellow at LSE's Centre for Analysis of Risk and Regulation, followed by an Alcoa Fellowship based at what was then LSE's Centre for Environmental Policy and Governance.
Joan enjoys spending time with family, and walking, reading and music. She is a governor at her local secondary school in London.
